Carli, you would want to brace two structural lines in both directions: in the short direction you are addint diagonals. In the long direction youadded just the diagonal bracing in the facade facing the pike. You coul dconsider using moment frames in both long elevations. As the bracing line is longer, the forces on the individual connection is not as great, it can be done ecconomically with moment connections. The added benefit of course is that, also the steel size is increasing a bit, there are no diagonals that interfere with the openings.

Werner, I was also thinking about using the wall dividing the sleeping rooms from the studio spaces as a continuous shear wall. I will look into the moment frames.
